Jason Vassallo
Managing Surveyor
Jason began his career in insurance in 1993
with Island Insurance Brokers working mainly on non-marine
business but also on marine and personal-lines business. During
this time he attended various training courses at the Mediterranean
Insurance Training Centre and began his studies with the CII.
In 1994, he joined the underwriting department
of Citadel Insurance Agency Limited, then representatives
of Assitalia. In 1996, he moved to the claims department of
the same company and progressed to Acting Claims Manager responsible
for the non-motor claims department in 2003. In 1998 he participated
actively in the transition of Citadel Insurance Agency Ltd
into Citadel Insurance plc, Malta’s first privately owned
composite insurance company. Jason was particularly involved
in the application of re-insurance treaties on the claims
aspect and was also responsible for administering the storm
claims of 15th September 2003
In 2004, Jason joined MSB Valletta Limited
where his responsibilities included loss adjusting, recoveries,
general surveying and inspections. Jason has also carried
out work in Libya.
Jason has been involved in all classes of
non-motor claims having had particular exposure in Liability
and Engineering business. He has dealt extensively with overseas
underwriters and adjusters including Crawfords, Crawfords
Hellas, ICAS and also Cunningham Lindsey. His experience includes;

Jason considers that two aspects of his
career development have been of particular influence on him
in his adjusting role. Primarily that he was introduced to
insurance from the clients’ perspective and secondly that
he has been involved on claims across the full spectrum of
non-motor classes underwritten in Malta. His training has
also been received from professionals who now occupy top-tier
position in the Maltese market.
Jason is 34 years old and is married to Mary
Ann (nee Camilleri FCII) and they have 2 daughters.
